Dreams and Their Meanings

Dreams are the thoughts, stories and images that pass through our minds during the hours we sleep.  Even though we all have experienced dreaming at one time or another, no one can truly understand what they really mean, why we have them, or even if they have a purpose.  Many scientists, psychologists, doctors, mystics, crackpots, and common folk have attempted to compile a complete and accurate understanding about dreams and their meanings, but many will always fall short.  Most have agreed that dreams and their meanings to have a substantial effect on us, and they are a way to the subconscious mind to reach out to the conscious mind, telling us things we do not know or allowing us a new view on emotions we consciously feel.

The would all agree, once again, that the common themes and subjects of dreams are important, and that each type of dream you have means something (even if it is just the literal meaning.  Here are some of the most common dreams and their meanings.

1. Failed Machinery - This is a common subject of dreams where a certain types of machinery, like a cell phone, telephone, computer, or appliance, fails to function like it should, breaks, or is damaged to a point where its intended function cannot be performed.  This is a relatively new subject of dreams thanks to our growing reliance of modern technology.  Due to this newly developed attachment, many would interpret these dreams as a detachment from society, the feeling like you are losing a grip on reality, or you are losing communication of a certain type.
   
   
   
2. I Can Fly - If you have ever had a dream where you were flying, it can mean a number of different things.  Some interpret these types of dreams as a form of sexual representation, while other avoid the sexual connotation by interpreting flight as a specific view on your general place in life.  If all depends on the way you are flying.  If you are successfully soaring, then you have number of good things going in your life or your are proud of your sexual prowess.  If you are failing to fly or having trouble with, you can get the relationship.
   
   
3. Dental Issues - This is one of the more common dreams with a strange meaning.  The most common type of dream deals with losing or breaking your teeth.  Your teeth are one of the most visual representations of yourself, and are often connected with your sexual prowess, you looks, and even your love and desires for people.  When you lose your teeth, or they become damaged, it means one of these parts of the human psyche is taking a hit.
   
   
4. Help, I'm Falling - It is not true that you will die if you fail to wake before hitting the ground (or whatever is down there).  dreams where you are falling are quite common, and have a fairly universal meaning among experts.  Dreams where you are falling are often caused by a fear of failing or if you are failing in a certain aspect of your life.  If your professional life starts taking a downhill turn, if your sexual nature is starting to get out of whack, or if you are having troubles with your education, then you may experience dreams where you are falling.  Many people also report waking up startled when they do hit the ground, but this is purely a perception issue.  You are not in any real danger from a falling dream.
   
   
5. Being Chased - Whether it is by a dog, a crowd, or some kind of monster, dreaming of being chased is very common (the most common according to some).  There are two different interpretations of this type of dream, depending entirely on which party you are.  If you are chasing someone or something, it is meant to reflect your ambition and desire to accomplish a recently thought of goal, or even a goal you are in the process of completing.  If you are the one being chased, then you are most likely trying to deal with an important, and difficult, emotion or life situation.  What is really chasing you are the feelings you are having during that period of time.
   
   
6. I'm Naked - Okay, maybe not naked, but when you dream about being in a certain state of undress in an inappropriate situation.  Sometime you are completely naked, while other times you are in your underwear, your pajamas, or wearing anything inappropriate for the local you are in.  These dreams are interpreted in one of two ways, either you have deep seeded feelings that you are inadequate, over-exposed emotionally to the world, or feel awkward in a current real life situation.  Some will also say that it is a reflection of current sexual desires. 
   
   Or, you just want to be naked somewhere.
